Our Programs

Program

Russia

EWI played a key role in the 1980s managing tensions between NATO and the Soviet Union, and has since worked to build a sustainable relationship of trust between Russia, its G-8 partners, and the world’s new rising powers.

Program

China

Since 2006, EWI’s China program has worked with China's political, military, and academic leaders to integrate China into an international system of peace and security.

Program

Worldwide Security

EWI works in several areas that have serious implications for global security. We bring together high-level thought leaders and policymakers to develop fresh ideas and strategies to defuse potential areas of conflict and secure critical infrastructure.

Program

Regional Security

EWI has often focused its attention on specific regions that have serious implications on worldwide security. For example, as the Russia-Georgia conflict erupted in August 2008, we immediately marshaled our ideas, networks, and resources to facilitate communication and help ensure that the conflict did not devolve into a larger standoff between NATO and Russia.

Program

Worldwide Cybersecurity Initiative

EWI is working with leading corporations, specialists and governments around the world to mobilize cooperative approaches to cybersecurity.

Program

Weapons of Mass Destruction

Since 2006, EWI has been working to overcome political obstacles that inhibit efforts to eliminate weapons of mass destruction.

Program

Preventive Diplomacy Initiatives

In all our activities, we work not only to respond to conflict, we also work to prevent them. EWI's Preventive Diplomacy initiatives help EWI plan for the future and allow us to address crossboundary friction before it devolves into open conflict.

Program

Leadership

EWI strives to bring to the forefront groups and ideas that are often left on the sidelines in global discussions on security. We have three initiatives to bring together groups and individuals who do similar work on local, national, or regional levels, and elevate their work to the global level.
