President-elect Barack Obama will face multiple challenges in the international arena, starting with the current economic crisis. EWI staff and partners reflect on the U.S. elections and the challenges ahead.

Writing for Newsweek’s Polish edition and Newsweek.com, EWI Director of Public Policy and Senior Fellow Andrew Nagorski spells out lessons  of the U.S. election and implications for the new administration. He argues that Obama needs to offer bold domestic and foreign policy initiatives - one clear  opportunity is to push for a radical reduction in nuclear weapons.

Meanwhile.  EWI’s  Global Leadership Consortium partners discussed global views of the elections in  the inaugural Global Lens, a quarterly exchange of views from around the  world on events that affect global security.

Global Lens brings together international thought  leaders to develop a multi-faceted picture of the opportunities and challenges  facing the world today. For its first discussion, Global Lens editors  Fyodor Lukyanov and Kumar Ketkar asked contributors about their recommendations  and hopes for the next U.S. administration.
